CHANGES TO SANFORD EMPLOYEE HEALTH INSURANCE
Effective 1-1-2020
The information that we have received from Sanford on 10-1-2019 and Heartland has sent out via email to all of our providers is as follows:
The Director of Provider Contracting at Sanford Health informed us of changes that will occur, beginning 1-1-2020 to the Sanford Employee Health Insurance. Because Sanford Health is a Self-Funded Insurance Plan (for Sanford Employees only), they will no longer allow their employees to see providers outside of the Sanford Health System. They will not offer Out of Network benefits either.
A list of Heartland Clinics that they will contract with directly and continue to provide services for their employees was provided.
One of the questions we have been receiving is what was the "criteria" for making the list? The answer we received was "HR Department" compiled the list.
We do not know why some were on the list and others were not.
If you get an insurance card from a Sanford employee and do not know if they are covered call the number on the back of the card to verify benefits.
In the email you received, a contact name and number was provided for you to reach out and ask the questions we do not have the answers too.
This does NOT change the other contracts that Heartland has with Sanford Health. (Commerical, NDPERs and Medicaid Expansion). Only the Sanford Employee Health Plan is affected.
